Project

“Ode to an Almeerder” is a city project.

17 years ago, when I moved from Iran to the Dutch city of Almere, I couldn’t find myself in this town.
I started doing street photography, hoping to create a sense of home.
But the faces I came across were more strangers to me, than people. Foreigners.

Now, a lifetime further up, Almere is my home. It’s time to go grab my Leica and portrait the city.
The places, the people, the interaction. Almere and I dare look at each other.

In this series you come across the people that come from of all over the world to start a new phase of their lives.
The city changes everyday. Like an adolescent. People and their city grow up together.
When I look around me now I see the city as a young adult. The puberty is over.
The city and its people try to learn from each other more than ever.

It is the time for fortune. This project is about a city in portraits.
